1958

The construction of the Volga Synthetic Rubber Plant began in 1959.

The Volzhsky Synthetic Rubber Plant was one of the first enterprises producing synthetic isoprene rubber SKI-3 with a capacity of 40,000 tons per year.

1996

The plant was put into operation in November 1964.

The launch of the enterprise was of great importance for the national economy of the country — the Volga rubber was not inferior in its properties to natural rubber and was in demand in the rubber and tire industries. By 1983, the output increased by 3 times and amounted to 120 thousand tons per year. Due to objective reasons, in the period from 1989 to 1994, the production of isoprene rubber was reduced, the plant was stopped for reconstruction. In 1992, in connection with the privatization of the synthetic rubber plant, it was renamed into the open joint-stock company «Volzhsky rubber».

On April 28, 2001, MTBE production was successfully launched. By November 26, 2002, 100 thousand tons of MTBE had been produced. In 2004, the enterprise exceeded its design capacity and produced 119,231.6 tons of MTBE.
